Assembly Instruction

Make sure bell socket is clean and free of gravel, mud or other debris. Next, loop the gasket between the inserts and install in bell socket making sure that the gasket is properly fitted into corresponding socket recesses. Before installing beveled end of pipe, lubricate exposed surface of installed gasket and cleaned plain end of pipe. When inserting plain end into the bell socket, make sure the pipe is in straight alignment.

NOTE: For maximum deflection after installation, refer to pipe manufacturers standard assembly recommendations.

Carefully extend joint after assembly to make sure restraining segments are properly engaged.   A thin feeler gauge passed between the bell and spigot all around the assembled joint should be used to confirm correct gasket placement.  Refer to the pipe manufacturer's installation manual for further instructions.

Field Cut Pipe :
When pipe is cut in the field, the cut end must be properly prepared prior to assembly. Using a grinding device, place bevel on the cut end. The bevel should be about 1/4" long at an angle of approximately 30 degrees. The corners should then be rounded leaving no sharp edges.

Note:  Gaskets are not recommended for pushing pipe through casing or for directional boring.  Installation during cold temperatures may require more force.  Store gaskets in warm place prior to, and up to time of installation.
